The Sub Shop with HISTORY…
A Sub Sandwich Star is Born
In 1969, the submarine sandwich was a relatively unknown concept in the South. Nonetheless, with a desire to use only the finest sliced meats and cheeses and the freshest of vegetables, John and Beverley Sobik wanted to open a restaurant in Central Florida which would take advantage of its popularity in the north. Opening on State Road 436 in Altamonte Springs, lines began to form from the very start as word quickly spread about the freshly sliced ham, turkey and roast beef subs, as well as what might well have become Sobik’s signature offering its famous Cheesesteak Sub. With thinly sliced flakes of seasoned sirloin, grilled onions, and melted cheese, all served on a warm freshly-baked sub roll, Sobik’s Cheesesteak went to the top of the menu and remains there still today.
The More The Menu Changes…
Today, Sobik’s Subs continues to serve top quality products that are freshly prepared throughout the day, ensuring every guest enjoys the same sub sandwich experience as a guest in 1969. Our meats and cheeses are all high-quality premium brands. Our bread is fresh-baked each day and delivered to the restaurant every morning. Guests still love our Cheese Steak and our fully loaded, stacked high, freshly-sliced deli subs. Our Sobik’ Signature Deli Sub, with hickory-smoked ham, Genoa salami, spicy pepperoni and smoked Provolone cheese, along with a choice of toppings, Sobik’s Signature Dressing, and our famous Greek peppers has been in the Sobik’s family from the very beginning, we continue to serve our spaghetti with baked meatballs or sausage.
When it comes to friendly customer service and quality food items, nothing has changed at Sobik’s Subs. The Sobik’s Subs menu has expanded to include healthy options from wraps and our gourmet salads, a fun kids menu and, of course, our grilled, pressed Cuban sandwich. No other sub shop can match the quality and diversity of our menu.
